Today’s news comes from Lauren Hudson, a NYC Civic Corps Member serving at the NY Writers Coalition and as a studio monitor at the Gowanus Print Lab.
Narrator contributor Alexis Clements and In The Flesh Magazine, an emerging literary magazine, are convening a new writing group inspired by the Queer Art Mentorship and Sarah Schulman’s Satellite Academy for queer writers.
According to Clements, the goal of the group, which caters to queer writers and meets in Brooklyn, is to provide a safe space for writers to take risks with their material. Regardless of material, the group aims to help writers flesh out ideas and encourage creative ways to have their work seen by others.
It is important to note that the group is intended for writers with some work under their belt and is not necessarily for undergraduate or graduate writing students. The next meeting takes place Tuesday, November 13 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
