Friday 5: Top Five College Reads

I’m headed back to the ol’ alma mater tomorrow, and the trip has got me a little nostalgic. Not so much for the drinking games and cross-dressed grocery trips (Ohio winter is the mother of invention, not necessity) but for the books – books I might have never have thought to read on my own.

In honor of revisiting those college years, this Friday 5 is devoted to my favorite works taught in undergrad English. Here goes…

Top Five College Reads

1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

2. Dracula by Bram Stoker

3. Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad

4. Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

5. Quicksand and Passing by Nella Larsen

None of these work for you? No worries. If you have an English student’s heart/off-key fashion sense/over-verbal culinary appreciation/extremely overburdened bookcase chime in with the titles you wish you read 5/10/20/30/40/50 years ago.

Looking forward to hearing from you all & happy weekend, kids!
