Running This Town x 10: NYWC Day May 18, 2012

On Friday, May 18, walk the dog, put the cat out, get a babysitter, call in sick and help us take over the city.  We will have 10 free workshops in iconic and community based New York City locations.  Show the world (and experience first hand) the power of community writing!

Night and day, in all 5 boroughs, underneath the sound of car alarms and people on cell phones, if you listen closely enough you will hear the scritch scritch scritch of pen on paper.

Tired of seeing people expectorate onto the subway tracks?  Then spit out your own words with us as we ride the 7 train from Times Square to Flushing and back again, in what might be the first ever writing workshop on the subway!

Like your poems to be a little more salty?  Then hop on the Staten Island Ferry with us and see if the sea (well, the harbor anyway) inspires you.

Do you think writing will be easy if you try?  Then join us at Central Park’s Strawberry Fields and see what you can imagine. Or if the parks in Brooklyn are more your speed, then stroll leisurely over to Prospect Park or Brooklyn Bridge Park and let you mind wander and your pen meander and . .  well, you get the idea.

You more of a Boogie Down kind of scribe? Then Bronx’s Villalobo House is where your words will be jumping.

Are you a bookworm who needs more peace and quiet? Not to worry, join us at the Kensington Library and see what you find in the stacks.

These are just a few of the awesome locations we have lined up, with more to come!  So mark your calendars, tell your friends, sharpen your pencils, fill your travel coffee mugs and get ready to run this joint! Make sure to join our email list if you’re not on it already for more details to come soon.
