This Saturday NYWC will host “The Write Stuff”, our fourth annual youth marathon reading event. Writers from our youth workshops throughout the city will come to the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Branch to read their work with their peers. Many of our young readers have participated in other reading events (like NYWC’s Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival and Lincoln Center’s Poet-Linc Slam Poetry Competition) and continue to write beyond their workshops.
Narrator readers already know how talented our young writers are through our Ten Under 10 Series that featured past work in October. Now is your chance to experience their prose and poetry first hand — and for a good cause. This year, The Write Stuff will operate as a drop-off site for Summer in the City Project’s toy drive to benefit kids of families affected by Super Storm Sandy. Guests can bring a toy and stay for some awesome writing from our kids. The Write Stuff promises to be a boisterous event full of wonderful writing — and cupcakes!
The Write Stuff will be held at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Branch at Grand Army Plaza on Saturday, December 8th from 2-4 pm in the Trustee’s Room. Click here for directions.
